Melanie Lee Scientific Illustrator

Melanie Lee

Chemical engineering

Melanie, a scientific illustrator, combines her passion for art and design with scientific concepts. During her research studies, she recognized the impact of well-structured figures and schematics in conveying research findings. This insight motivated her to explore and learn various 2D and 3D illustration techniques.

After graduating, Melanie worked as a full-time Scientific Illustrator at the Mechanobiology Institute and the Office of the Deputy President for Research and Technology at the National University of Singapore for three years.

Now in her fourth year freelancing, Melanie’s current focus lies in bridging the gap between science and visual communication. She collaborates across various scientific fields, assisting researchers and science communicators in effectively conveying complex ideas through her personally-crafted imagery.
